Reasons to Love this Mango Yogurt
- Healthy Snack/Dessert - Yogurt is a great source of protein, carbohydrates and fat. Full fat yogurt contains calcium, some vitamin A, B-vitamins, zinc and potassium. Mangoes contain fibre, beta-carotene, which converts to vitamin A and plenty vitamin C.
- Naturally Sweetened - Ripe mangos are deliciously sweet and sweeten the yogurt beautifully.
- Customisable - You can decide the ratio of mango puree to yogurt. This will depend on how sweet the mango is and you / your child's taste preference. If your child is used to flavoured kids yogurt you may find you need to add all the mango puree but this can be slowly reduced over time.
- Easy/Make Ahead - Make a batch of mango puree in advance and freeze in small portions to swirl into yogurt when needed.

- Yogurt: This recipe uses Greek yogurt but any natural yogurt will work well. Under twos should have full fat yogurt as babies need a lots of fat at this age to support cell structure, metabolism, brain, gut, immune, and nervous system development. Coconut yogurt would pair deliciously with mango if you are looking for a dairy free option.
- Mango: Choose ripe mangos, learn how to choose a ripe mango here. If fresh mangoes are not available, choose frozen mangoes (defrosted). You could also use canned mangoes but make sure they are packed in water or natural juices and not syrups, which is not recommended for babies / young children.
- Lime: Optional, added for flavour, you may wish to skip if you find your mango isn't particularly sweet.
Step by Step Instructions and Photos
This mango yogurt is easy to make and really just involves mixing together.

- Add Ingredients to Bowl: Add around half of the mango puree to the yogurt along with the zest and juice of half a lime.
- Combine: Stir until combined together. Taste and add more mango puree if needed. Serve in a bowl and top with extra mango puree to swirl through.
Frequently Asked Questions
This yogurt is suitable for babies (6 months plus). Yogurt does contain dairy, a common allergen so dairy should be introduced safely first.

Mangoes contain a lot of natural sugars compared to other fruits and I recommend you reduce the amount of puree you add to the yogurt.
You can freeze yogurt but upon thawing, the texture may change slightly and may be a little grainy / more liquid than it originally was. I prefer to freeze mango puree in ice cube trays and then transfer to a zip lock bag to store in the freezer. You can then take out small portions of puree as needed. Defrost and stir into the yogurt.

If I'm using frozen mangos, how much should I use for this recipe? A cup?
Amy
Hi Shawna, I'd say a cup but you can always add less or more to suit your taste. 🙂

I never buy yoghurts for kids, they are far too sweet. I doubled the recipe and served it for dessert. There wasn’t a drop left. Thanks for a great alternative to kids yoghurts.
Amy
Thanks Jess! It is one of our favourite combos, so glad you like it too!
